- Good afternoon, everyone, and thank you for volunteering at this year's Lantern Festival. Let me take you quickly round the site map before the gates open.

- We're standing at the main gate, on River Road. Immediately to your right as you face the site is the wristband desk. Every visitor needs a wristband, so expect queues there all afternoon.

- On the other side of the gate, to your left, is the first aid tent. Please make sure you know where it is – if anyone feels unwell, that's where to bring them.

- Walk straight ahead towards the main stage and you'll pass two rows of tents. In the front row, nearest to us, are the craft stalls – the one on the left is the lantern-making workshop, which is free for children. Next to it, on the right, is the information point.

- In the row behind those, just in front of the stage, there are two more tents. Don't confuse them with the front row. The one on the left is the volunteers' rest area – that's yours, so take your breaks there. The one on the right is the lost property tent.

- Over on the park lawn, on the far left, there's a quiet area for families with young children, away from the noise of the stage.

- Now, a few practical points. Only after seven o'clock will the lantern parade begin, so we expect the busiest period to be between six and eight. Not only are performances on the main stage free this year, but they're also being streamed online, so don't be surprised to see people filming. The lantern-making workshop is already fully booked for the morning, but places are still available for the afternoon session. And finally, if it rains, the parade won't be cancelled – it'll simply be shortened.
