About

Tiếng Anh Căn Bản (“Basic English”) is a self-study English site for two groups of learners:

The site began as a small blog in 2015 with the slogan “Simply boost up your English” and was rebuilt from scratch in 2026.

The site was built for Vietnamese learners, so the lessons explain things in Vietnamese.

If you would like online one-to-one lessons in business English, communication or pronunciation, scan the QR code or message me on Zalo: 0908 192 009.

The lessons are taught online by my sister. She is currently a Purchasing Manager at a multinational company in Malaysia and uses English every day in negotiations, emails and meetings with partners.

Principles

  1. Our own writing. Reading texts, listening scripts, practice tests and model answers are written by me. Outside materials are only linked when their terms allow it, always with the source.
  2. Evidence-based. Methods are chosen from published research and official materials. Anything that cannot be verified is left out.
  3. Learning by doing. Every lesson includes listening, repeating, recording yourself and checking yourself.
  4. No promised results. There is no “so many sessions for so many band points”. Results vary from person to person.
  5. Safe for children. No adverts, no autoplay videos, and activities without a screen.

Limits

I am not an IELTS examiner. This site is not affiliated with IELTS, the British Council, IDP or Cambridge. The mock tests on this site are written by me and are not converted into an official band score; for an official band score, you need to take the test with a recognised IELTS test centre.

Your recordings

When you press record, the recording stays only in your browser so you can listen back to it; it is not sent to any server. See the Privacy page for more.
