The chart illustrates how many students took evening courses at Riverside College between 2015 and 2025, and how many of them studied online.
Overall, the total number of evening students rose over the period, despite a fall in 2021. At the same time, online learners made up a growing share of the total, and by 2025 they were in the majority.
In 2015, there were 2,000 evening students. This figure increased gradually to 2,600 in 2019, before dropping to 1,800 in 2021. However, enrolment then recovered strongly, reaching 2,800 in 2023 and a peak of 3,200 in 2025.
Online study, by contrast, was very uncommon at first, with only 200 students in 2015 – about a tenth of the total. The number grew slowly to 400 in 2019 and then jumped to 1,400 in 2021. It continued to rise, to 1,600 in 2023 and 2,000 in 2025, when online students accounted for more than half of all evening learners.
