The table compares the proportions of households in Country X that owned five different electronic devices at five-year intervals between 2010 and 2025.
Overall, ownership of almost every device increased over the period, the only exception being desktop computers. Smartphones saw the most dramatic growth and had become by far the most common device by 2025.
In 2010, only 15% of households had a smartphone, but this figure rose rapidly to 55% in 2015 and reached 92% in 2025. Laptops and smart TVs also became much more widespread. Laptop ownership more than doubled, from 30% to 70%, while the figure for smart TVs climbed from just 5% to 70%.
By contrast, desktop computers, which were the most common device in 2010 at 55%, became steadily less popular, and only 20% of homes had one in 2025. Tablets followed a different pattern: ownership increased from 2% to a peak of 35% in 2020, before falling slightly to 30% in the final year.
