Q: What kind of weather do you like? A: I prefer cool, dry weather, like we get in late autumn. Summer here is hot and humid, and if it’s over 35 degrees, I really can’t concentrate. That’s why I love October – it’s the best time for walking outside.

I’d like to talk about flooding, which is a serious problem in the part of the city where I live, especially during the rainy season.
Whenever there’s a heavy storm, some of the main streets near my home are under water within an hour. There are a few causes. Firstly, a lot of green space has been replaced by buildings and concrete, so the rainwater has nowhere to go. Secondly, the drains are often blocked by litter, especially plastic bags.
It affects people in many ways. Traffic stops completely, so people are late for work, and motorbikes break down in the water. Small shops on the ground floor sometimes have their goods damaged. Personally, I’ve had to wait in a café for two hours before I could ride home.
As for solutions, I think the city could do two things. If they cleaned the drains regularly before the rainy season, the water would drain away much faster. And if new building projects had to include green areas, the ground would absorb more rain. Residents can also help by not throwing litter into the street.
