Q: Do you spend a lot of time with your family? A: As much as I can. On weekdays we’re all busy, but we always have dinner together, and on Sundays we usually visit my parents. My family is quite close-knit, so we talk on the phone almost every day.
Q: How do people in your country celebrate birthdays? A: It depends on the age. For children, there’s usually a small party with a cake and candles. For older people, though, some families still celebrate milestone birthdays – like seventy or eighty – in a more traditional way, with the whole extended family gathering for a big meal.

Bài mẫu do khóa học viết; nhân vật là giả định.
I’d like to talk about my grandfather on my mother’s side. He’s eighty-two now, and he still lives in the village where he was born, in the north of Vietnam.
He worked as a primary school teacher for almost forty years, so many people in the village were once his students. Even now, when we walk around with him, people stop to greet him and thank him.
He’s one of the most patient and open-minded people I know. Despite his age, he’s always curious about new things. A couple of years ago, he asked my cousin to teach him how to use a smartphone, and now he video-calls us every weekend.
I remember him helping me with my homework when I stayed with him during the summer holidays. I was terrible at writing, and I often got frustrated. He never got angry. Instead, he would read my essays slowly, point out one or two things to improve, and then tell me a funny story about one of his old students. I’ll never forget him saying that “a mistake is just a lesson you haven’t finished yet.”
I respect him because he has spent his whole life helping others without expecting anything in return, and because he’s never stopped learning. I hope I can be like him when I’m older.
Part 3 – xã hội già hóa
