IELTS 6.0 → 6.5 · Tuần 3: Kiến trúc & thiết kế đô thị · Buổi 14/105 · ~85 phút

Buổi 14: Speaking – Khu bạn sống, các tòa nhà & một công trình kiến trúc ấn tượng

🎯 Sau buổi này bạn có thể

🔁 1. Ôn tập – 10 phút

🔁 Ôn thẻ từ vựng đến hạn

🧠 Nhớ lại buổi trước (không xem tài liệu)

  1. Câu chẻ: “What I like most about… is…” – nói 1 câu.
  2. “gave way to” và “made way for” dùng thế nào?
  3. Thư góp ý thiết kế: cấu trúc 3 phần là gì?

Trả lời to hoặc viết ra giấy, rồi mới mở lại buổi trước để kiểm tra.

🗣️ 2. Đầu vào – 20 phút

Q: Has the area where you live changed much recently? Quite dramatically, actually. When I first moved there, it was mostly low-rise houses and small shops, but over the past five years several high-rise apartment blocks have gone up. On the plus side, there are more cafés and a new park. The downside is that traffic has become much heavier and the area has lost some of its character.

Q: Are there any buildings you don’t like in your city? There’s one shopping centre near the river that I think is a bit of an eyesore. What bothers me isn’t the size so much as the design – it’s a huge grey box that doesn’t blend in with the old French-style buildings around it.

👀 Bài nói mẫu Part 2 (đọc sau khi đã tự nói)

Bài mẫu do khóa học viết; công trình là giả định.

I’d like to talk about a public library in the city centre that was renovated a couple of years ago. It’s on a quiet street just behind the main market.

From the outside, it isn’t particularly large, but what strikes you first is the contrast between old and new. The front of the building is the original yellow colonial façade, with tall wooden shutters, while the back has been extended with a modern glass wing that faces a small garden.

Inside, it’s surprisingly spacious. There’s a central atrium with a skylight, so the reading rooms on both floors are filled with natural light, and there are plants hanging from the balconies. It’s used mainly as a library, of course, but there’s also a small exhibition space and a room where students can study until late in the evening.

What I find most impressive is the way the architects managed to keep the building’s character while making it practical for modern use. A lot of old buildings in my city have either been demolished or left to become run-down, so it’s encouraging to see one that has been given a second life. Whenever I go there, I feel calm and focused – it’s the light, I think, that makes all the difference.
