✍️ 2. Đầu vào – 25 phút
Đề: Some people believe that the widespread use of surveillance cameras in public places makes society safer. Others argue that it is an unacceptable invasion of privacy. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Liên kết bằng quy chiếu & chuỗi từ
- Cameras may deter some crimes. deterrent effect, however, depends on people knowing they are being watched.
- Critics worry that footage could be misused. fears are not unreasonable.
- The technology itself is neutral; what matters is how is governed.
- Surveillance should be proportionate to the risk; monitoring a busy station is very different from a quiet residential street.
📝 Viết bài Task 2

As surveillance cameras have become a familiar feature of streets, stations and shopping centres, opinion has divided over whether they protect the public or intrude on it. In my view, such monitoring can be justified, but only when it is limited to places of genuine risk and subject to strict independent oversight.
Those who support cameras argue that they make public spaces safer in two ways. The first is deterrence: a person considering theft or violence may think twice if they know they are being recorded. The second is investigation. When an incident does occur, footage can help identify those responsible and, just as importantly, clear people who have been wrongly suspected. For passengers waiting on a late-night platform or parents in a crowded shopping centre, this sense of protection is not trivial.
Critics, however, see the same technology as a gradual erosion of civil liberties. Their concern is less about any single camera than about the cumulative effect of being watched almost everywhere. People who know they are observed may behave more cautiously, avoiding lawful protests or simply feeling less free in public. There is also the question of misuse. Recordings can be kept longer than necessary, shared without good reason or, as technology improves, combined with facial recognition to track individuals across a city. These fears are not unreasonable, since once such a system exists, it is far easier to expand than to dismantle.
I believe the answer lies in proportion. A camera at a busy transport hub, where the risk to large numbers of people is real, is very different from blanket coverage of quiet residential streets. Cameras should therefore be placed where there is a clear justification, footage should be deleted after a short period unless it is needed for an investigation, and an independent body should review how the system is used.
In conclusion, while surveillance cameras can offer real benefits for public safety, these benefits only outweigh the costs to privacy when their use is carefully limited and transparently controlled.
🔬 Phân tích bài mẫu – liên kết không cần “Moreover”
Chuỗi từ vựng xuyên bài: surveillance cameras → such monitoring → cameras → footage → the same technology → being watched → recordings → such a system → coverage → footage → the system. Bài không dùng Firstly/Moreover/Furthermore mà vẫn mạch lạc.
Quy chiếu nối ý: this sense of protection, Their concern, These fears, such a system, these benefits.
Vì sao vượt mức 6.5:
- Steelman cả hai phía: phía ủng hộ có hai cơ chế (răn đe & điều tra) + một ví dụ đời thường; phía phản đối có ý “tác động tích lũy” – ý sâu, không chỉ “privacy is important”.
- Lập trường có điều kiện rõ ràng và cụ thể hóa thành 3 biện pháp (chỉ đặt nơi có lý do, xóa sau thời gian ngắn, cơ quan độc lập giám sát).
- Lập luận bằng cơ chế, không bằng số liệu bịa (may think twice if they know they are being recorded).
- Câu có độ tinh tế: it is far easier to expand than to dismantle; Their concern is less about any single camera than about the cumulative effect…
⚠️ Lỗi hay gặp ở band 6.5: “Cameras can reduce crime by 50%” (bịa); thân bài 1 vừa ủng hộ vừa phản bác; kết bài nêu lập trường khác mở bài; mỗi câu bắt đầu bằng một từ nối.
🧩 3. Ngôn ngữ trọng tâm – 10 phút: nối đoạn bằng quy chiếu

Write a short note to staff explaining a monitoring rule (e.g. CCTV in a warehouse or logging access to a shared drive): what is monitored, why, who can see it, and how long records are kept.

Subject: CCTV in Warehouse B
Dear colleagues,
From 1 December, CCTV cameras will operate at the two loading bays in Warehouse B. They are being installed following two recent safety incidents involving forklifts, and they will not cover offices, break rooms or toilets. Footage will be viewed only by the safety manager when an incident is reported, and it will be deleted automatically after 30 days. If you have any questions, please contact HR.
Best regards, Facilities Team
