🔁 1. Ôn tập – 10 phút
🔁 Ôn thẻ từ vựng đến hạn
🧠 Nhớ lại buổi trước (không xem tài liệu)
- Buổi 52: “It would be fair to say that… but not that…” – nói 1 câu về quy định giao thông.
- Bị động khi nói: “Someone stole my bike” → ?
- “turn up” trong câu “My keys turned up in the fridge” nghĩa là gì?
Trả lời to hoặc viết ra giấy, rồi mới mở lại buổi trước để kiểm tra.
🗣️ 2. Đầu vào – 20 phút
Q: Have you ever lost something important? Yes – my wallet, a couple of years ago, on a bus. What made it worse was that my ID card was in it. Amazingly, it was handed in to the bus company two days later with everything still inside, so I’ve been a bit more optimistic about strangers ever since.
Q: Were there many rules at your school? Quite a lot, and some of them seemed pretty pointless at the time – like having to wear a jacket even in thirty-degree heat. Looking back, though, the ones about punctuality probably did us a favour. I wouldn’t say I enjoyed them, but they’ve stuck.

What made it worse was that my ID card was in it.
Điều tệ hơn là thẻ căn cước của tôi ở trong đó.
It was handed in two days later with everything still inside.
Hai ngày sau nó được nộp lại, mọi thứ vẫn còn nguyên.
Some of them seemed pretty pointless at the time.
Lúc đó có vài quy định có vẻ khá vô nghĩa.
Looking back, though, they probably did us a favour.

Describe a rule that you think is really useful.
You should say:
- what the rule is
- where it applies
- how people react to it
- and explain why you think it is useful.
- Đổi ý có tín hiệu: At first I thought… It was only when… that I realised…
- Giải thích mục đích: The whole point of it is to…
👀 Bài nói mẫu Part 2 (đọc sau khi đã tự nói)
Bài mẫu do khóa học viết; câu chuyện là giả định.
The rule I’d like to talk about is a very simple one at a company I used to work for: every meeting had to end with someone reading out the actions – who would do what, and by when.
It applied to all internal meetings, however short, and the person chairing the meeting was responsible for making sure it happened. If nobody did it, the meeting was technically considered unfinished.
To be honest, when I first joined, I found it slightly ridiculous. It felt like a school exercise, and in a ten-minute meeting it seemed like a waste of two minutes. Quite a few people felt the same way, and some of the more senior staff would try to skip it if they were in a hurry.
It was only when I was put in charge of a small project that I realised why it existed. In my first week, I ran a meeting without reading out the actions because we were running late. A week later, it turned out that three people had each assumed someone else was contacting a supplier, so nobody had. We lost several days.
After that, I became one of the people who insisted on it. The whole point of the rule is that it forces vague agreement – “someone should look into that” – to become a specific commitment with a name attached. And because it’s done out loud, in front of everyone, it’s very hard to pretend later that you didn’t know it was your job.
So I think it’s useful precisely because it’s so small. It costs two minutes, and it prevents exactly the kind of misunderstanding that wastes weeks.
🔬 Phân tích bài mẫu
- Đổi ý rõ ràng: I found it slightly ridiculous → It was only when… that I realised… → I became one of the people who insisted on it.
- Sự việc cụ thể làm bằng chứng: ba người đều tưởng người khác liên hệ nhà cung cấp.
- Bị động tự nhiên: was considered unfinished, I was put in charge of.
- Giải thích cơ chế: biến vague agreement thành specific commitment with a name attached.
- Kết bằng nghịch lý ngắn gọn: useful precisely because it’s so small.
⚠️ Lỗi hay gặp ở band 6.5: chọn quy định quá chung (traffic rules are useful because they keep people safe) rồi hết ý sau 1 phút; không có câu chuyện.
Part 3 – quy định, hình phạt & công bằng
🎤 Part 3 – Rules and justice (khoảng 8 phút)
Nghe câu hỏi → nghĩ 10–15 giây → ghi âm câu trả lời 2–3 câu (khoảng 20–30 giây) → nghe lại và tự chấm bằng ô kiểm tra bên dưới.
- Phân biệt mục đích: deterrence (răn đe) vs rehabilitation (cải tạo).
- Cấu trúc khách quan: It's often assumed that…, but in practice…
Why do some people break rules even when they know the consequences?
Are strict punishments the best way to stop people breaking the law?
Should young offenders be treated differently from adults?
Is it ever acceptable to break a rule?

🎤 4. Thực hành – 25 phút
🎤 Part 1 – Lost and found & rules (khoảng 8 phút)
