The bar chart compares the number of international students in Northport, Bayside and Ridgeton in 2016 and 2026, together with projections for 2036.
Overall, Northport has been and is expected to remain the most popular destination, but Bayside has grown much more rapidly and is forecast to come close to matching it by 2036. Ridgeton, by contrast, has seen little change.
In 2016, Northport had 40,000 international students, compared with 30,000 in Ridgeton and 25,000 in Bayside. Over the following decade, numbers in Northport rose to 55,000, while Bayside's almost doubled to 45,000, overtaking Ridgeton to become the second most popular city. This trend is projected to continue, with Northport reaching 70,000 and Bayside 65,000 by 2036. As a result, the gap between the two leading cities, which stood at 15,000 in 2016, is expected to narrow to just 5,000.
Ridgeton's figures, meanwhile, have remained broadly stable, falling slightly to 28,000 in 2026 before an expected modest recovery to 32,000 in 2036.
