These days, a growing number of people order their everyday goods on the internet instead of buying them in nearby shops. In my opinion, this is mainly because online shopping is more convenient and often cheaper, and I believe it is a largely positive development, although it does create some problems for small businesses.

There are two main reasons for this trend. Firstly, online shopping saves time. People who work long hours can order food, clothes or household items on their phones in a few minutes, and the products are delivered to their door, sometimes on the same day. Secondly, prices online are often lower. Online sellers do not need to pay rent for a shop, so they can offer discounts, and customers can easily compare prices on different websites before they buy.

I think this change is mostly positive. Busy people, elderly people and those who live far from shopping centres can now get the products they need without travelling, and the competition between sellers helps to keep prices down. In addition, customer reviews make it easier to avoid poor-quality products. However, it is true that some local shops have lost customers and may have to close, which could make some streets less lively. For this reason, local businesses should also consider selling online, for example through their own websites or delivery apps.

In conclusion, people shop online more because it is quicker and cheaper. Although small shops may suffer, I believe the benefits for customers make this a positive development overall.
