While some people believe that governments should invest in exploring space, others argue that the money would be better spent on urgent problems on Earth. In my view, solving problems on Earth should be the main priority, but a limited amount of space research is still worthwhile.

On the one hand, supporters of space exploration point out that it has brought many practical benefits. Satellites, for example, allow us to forecast the weather, which helps farmers plan their work and gives people time to prepare for storms. They also make modern communication and navigation possible. In addition, space programmes encourage young people to study science and engineering, and the technology developed for space can later be used in everyday products.

On the other hand, I believe that problems on Earth are more urgent. Millions of people still do not have enough food, clean water or basic healthcare, and climate change is already causing floods and droughts in many countries. If governments spent more of their budgets on these issues, they could improve or even save many lives in the short term. Moreover, it seems difficult to justify sending missions to other planets when many communities on our own planet lack schools and hospitals.

In conclusion, although space exploration has produced useful technology and inspired many people, I believe that governments should focus mainly on poverty, health and the environment. However, they should continue to fund space research that clearly helps life on Earth, such as satellites that monitor the climate.
