- So am I. Hydroponics systems are much lighter, and the latter would also use less water, according to the supplier.
- Lan
- But it needs electricity for the pumps. Could we use solar panels?
- Omar
- We could, but that would double the budget. I'd suggest starting with a small hydroponic system on mains power and adding panels next year if the project goes well.
- Kate
- That makes sense. Let's do so.
- Lan
- Next issue – who looks after it in the summer holidays? Most students go home.
- Kate
- Could the library staff water it?
- Omar
- I don't think so – it's not their job. But some international students stay over the summer. We could recruit volunteers from them.
- Lan
- Good idea. And what should we do with the produce?

- Sell it in the canteen?

- I'd rather we didn't, at least at first – the amounts will be tiny. Why not give it to the student food bank?

- I like that. It fits the aim of the project better. And for the report, shall we measure the yield every week?

- Every two weeks should be enough. Weekly would take too much time.
