Dear Editor,
I am writing as secretary of the Riverside Reading Club with regard to the article "Library clubs face closure", which appeared in your newspaper on Tuesday 1 December.
While I appreciate your interest in local community groups, the article contained two significant errors. Firstly, it claimed that our club would be closing at the end of the year because of falling membership. In fact, we have no plans to close; our membership has actually grown over the past year. Secondly, the article stated that meetings are held only on weekday mornings, which would exclude working people. Our meetings take place on the first Saturday of every month.
Since the article was published, several members have contacted me in confusion, and at least two people who had planned to join have told us they assumed it was no longer possible.
I would therefore be grateful if you could publish a correction in your next edition, including the correct meeting times. I would also be happy to provide further information for a follow-up article.
Yours faithfully, Nguyen Thanh Mai Secretary, Riverside Reading Club
