Q: How do you usually get the news? Mostly from my phone, if I’m honest. I scroll through a couple of news apps on the bus in the morning. I used to watch the evening news with my parents, but these days I rarely sit down in front of the TV. The downside is that I often only read the headlines, so I probably miss a lot of detail.
Q: Do you think people spend too much time on social media? Some people do, definitely – myself included, at times. It’s not so much the time itself as the way it’s broken up: you pick up your phone to check one message and twenty minutes later you’re still scrolling. That said, I wouldn’t want to give it up completely; it’s how I keep in touch with friends abroad.

🗂️ Part 2 – Thẻ đề
Describe a time when you believed something that turned out to be false.
You should say:
- what you believed
- where you got the information
- how you found out it was false
- and explain how you felt about it.
- Có “điểm ngoặt” rõ: It was only when… that I realised…
- Phản tư cuối: If I'd checked…, I wouldn't have…
👀 Bài nói mẫu Part 2 (đọc sau khi đã tự nói)
Bài mẫu do khóa học viết; câu chuyện là giả định.
I’d like to talk about a time, maybe three years ago, when I completely fell for a story about a new rule at my old university.
A friend shared a screenshot in our class group chat. It looked like an official notice, with the university logo, and it said that from the next semester, students who missed more than two classes would automatically fail the course. Everyone panicked. I forwarded it to my younger cousin, who had just started at the same university, and told her to be very careful.
It was only when my cousin asked her tutor about it that we found out it was false. The tutor said there was no such rule – the screenshot seemed to be an old draft from another faculty, or possibly just a joke that someone had edited. I checked the university website and, sure enough, there was nothing about it.
To be honest, I felt quite embarrassed, because I’d been the one who’d frightened my cousin. And I’m usually quite sceptical about things I see online. I think I believed it partly because it came from a friend, and partly because it looked so official. If I’d taken thirty seconds to check the website, I wouldn’t have spread it. Since then, I’ve tried to think twice before forwarding anything, especially when it makes me feel anxious.
