- Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Green Delta Eco-Tours. My name's Thao, and I'll be your guide today. Before we set off, I'd like to go through a few practical points.

- This tour is designed to have minimal impact on the environment. That means small groups – never more than twelve people – and no engines in the narrow channels. We'll travel first by motorboat to the edge of the reserve, and from there we'll switch to kayaks and canoes. The latter are more stable, so I'd recommend them if you haven't paddled before.

- Life jackets are provided and must be worn at all times on the water – no exceptions. Binoculars are also provided, one pair for every two people. What you'll need to bring yourselves is a hat – a wide-brimmed one is best – and plenty of water. Insect repellent is a good idea too, although the boats carry some if you've forgotten yours.

- Now, about wildlife. We'll almost certainly see birds, and we may see monkeys near the landing point. Please don't feed them, and if you want to take photos, do so without flash. Usually, the highlight of the trip is a colony of storks nesting on the far side of the lagoon, but this month they've moved further inland, so we'll visit a different spot where kingfishers are often seen.

- Around midday, we'll stop at a fishing village for lunch. The meal is cooked by a local family, and part of every ticket goes directly to the village's community fund, which is being used this year to repair the school roof.

- Some of you have asked whether swimming is allowed. It isn't in the reserve itself, because of strong currents, but you can do so at the village beach after lunch if conditions are safe. Overall, the tour was well organised and the guide was very knowledgeable.
