The line graph shows how the composition of households in Country F changed over the thirty years from 1996 to 2026.
Overall, the most significant change was the decline of couples with children, which went from being by far the most common household type to only the second most common. Single-person households, by contrast, rose steadily and had become the largest category by 2026, although the three leading types were by then almost level.
In 1996, couples with children made up 45% of all households, more than twice the share of any other type. This figure fell in every decade, reaching 27% in 2026. Meanwhile, the proportion of people living alone more than doubled, from 12% to 28%, narrowly overtaking couples with children in the final decade.
As for the other types, couples without children became slightly more common, rising from 20% to 26%, and single-parent households increased modestly before levelling off at 11%. Multigenerational households, however, moved in the opposite direction, falling from 15% to 8%, almost half their original share.
- Tín hiệu chuyển nhóm rõ: Meanwhile, As for the other types, however… in the opposite direction.
- So sánh chính xác: more than twice the share of any other type, more than doubled, almost half.
- Mô tả hình dạng: increased modestly before levelling off.
⚠️ Lỗi hay gặp ở band 6.5: viết single people overtook all other types easily (sai – sát nút); bỏ sót nhóm nhỏ; đoán lý do (because young people want freedom).

Dear Khanh,
It's been far too long! I hope you and your family are all well and that the new job is going smoothly.
I'm writing because it's now ten years since we all finished university, and a few of us thought it would be a great excuse to get the old group together. Most of us have only kept in touch through the group chat, and I think we'd all love to catch up properly.
We're planning to meet on Saturday 16 January at the riverside restaurant where we used to celebrate the end of every exam period – you'll remember the one! We'll start with lunch around midday and then, if the weather's good, take a walk along the river. Partners and children are very welcome.
I was wondering if you could help with one thing. You've always been the one with the best photos, so would you mind putting together a short slideshow from our university days? Even ten minutes would be wonderful.
Could you let me know by the end of December whether you can make it? It would be lovely to see you again.
Best wishes, Thu
