The three pie charts show how adults in Country M divided their weekday free time among five types of activity at ten-year intervals between 2006 and 2026.

Overall, screen-based activities, already the largest category in 2006, steadily took up a greater share of leisure time, largely at the expense of socialising and hobbies. Exercise was the only other activity to gain ground.

In 2006, screens accounted for roughly a third of free time (35%), but this proportion rose to 45% a decade later and to just over half (52%) by 2026. Exercise and sport also became more popular, albeit from a much smaller base, increasing from 10% to 14%.

The activities that lost out most were those involving other people or sustained attention. Socialising, which had made up a quarter of free time in 2006, fell to 15%, while the share devoted to hobbies and reading nearly halved, from 20% to 11%. As a result, socialising was overtaken by exercise in the final year shown. Time spent on other activities remained broadly stable, at between 8% and 10%.

🔬 Phân tích bài mẫu – điều tách band 8 khỏi band 7.5
  1. Gom theo xu hướng, không theo năm: thân bài 1 = nhóm tăng; thân bài 2 = nhóm giảm. Không có câu nào kiểu In 2016, …. In 2026, … lặp lại.
  2. Câu mở thân bài 2 nối bằng nội dung: The activities that lost out most were those involving other people or sustained attention – vừa nhóm lại vừa mô tả đặc điểm chung (không suy diễn nguyên nhân).
  3. Một quan sát bất ngờ – nhưng phải đúng với số liệu: xem ⚠️ bên dưới.
  4. Tỉ lệ chính xác: roughly a third, just over half, a quarter, nearly halved, albeit from a much smaller base.

⚠️ Bài mẫu có một lỗi cố ý để bạn luyện kiểm tra: câu socialising was overtaken by exercise in the final year shown là sai (2026: socialising 15%, exercise 14%). Bạn có phát hiện trước khi đọc dòng này không? Ở band 8, một phép so sánh sai đủ làm giảm độ chính xác của cả bài – đây là lý do phải kiểm tra từng con số. Câu đúng có thể là: By 2026, exercise had almost caught up with socialising.

Lỗi hay gặp ở band 7.5: ba đoạn cho ba năm; the percentage of screen increased (thiếu danh từ); viết 50% thành half khi số thật là 52% mà không có just over.

Dear Tuan,

It was really good to hear from you, although I'm sorry things have been so hectic lately. Working late every night for two months while trying to move house sounds exhausting – I'm honestly not surprised you're feeling worn out.

I don't want to sound like I've got all the answers, because I certainly haven't, but a couple of things helped me when I was in a similar situation last year. One was deciding on a fixed time to stop work each evening, even if it felt as if nothing was finished. The other was getting outside for twenty minutes at lunchtime instead of eating at my desk. Neither solved everything, but they made the weeks feel less like one long day.

More importantly, why don't you come and stay with us for a weekend once your project's over? We could go walking by the lake, or just do nothing at all, which might be exactly what you need. The spare room's always ready.

Look after yourself, and let me know if there's anything I can do in the meantime.

Lots of love, Ha

🔬 Phân tích bài mẫu GT
  • Đồng cảm cụ thể, nhắc lại chi tiết của bạn (working late… while trying to move house) – cho thấy đã đọc kỹ.
  • Gợi ý không lên lớp: I don’t want to sound like I’ve got all the answers…, kể điều đã giúp mình, kèm giới hạn (Neither solved everything).
  • Lời mời cụ thể (come and stay… once your project’s over), có lựa chọn nhẹ nhàng.
  • Văn phong thân mật đúng mức: rút gọn (I’m, project’s), câu tự nhiên, không dùng tiếng lóng.

⚠️ Lỗi hay gặp ở band 7.5: You should rest more and you must exercise (giọng ra lệnh); văn phong lẫn trang trọng (I am writing to express my concern); kết Yours sincerely trong thư cho bạn thân.
